That SCRAWL event looks like it was fun! I know what you mean about feeling like some things make your well even deeper. I feel like my well is very shallow these days. I just pre-ordered your book!

It was fun! I wish we could bend the distance a little and it would be a 15 min drive, not an hour and a half-2!

Jordan, your deep commitment to craft and to the people who practice it inspire me to do my best, also.

Aw, thank you so much, Julie. I find your work inspiring, too!

When I would get inadvertent memories at night in the early days of writing my memoir, I used the Notes app as well. Looking back at those 'scribbled' notes, I am amazed at how far I've come. I was taking your class, Jordan, at that time "Our Stories"!

Oh, I love that, Susan! It's a pleasure to see your writing evolve.

It's always great when I find out I'm not the only one! Saturated is a great word for it. I often use the term bloated. Every morning I think there may be more more messages in my email than neurons in the brain or stars in the galaxy. One thing I've found to be a great help is to take five mindful minutes before clicking the Gmail icon. It helps me go through my messages like a gold prospector, sifting through the dirt for those gold nuggets.

Bloated is another good word for it! I like the mindful minutes idea. I do usually start the morning by writing in my journal, but then I do rush immediately to opening email. I feel like I go through my email less like a gold prospector and more like a raccoon in a trash bin. ;-P

I love this, Jordan! Beautiful post. Before everything got so crazy (during the 2010s, when we thought we were saturated), I unsubscribed from every list, and it was so peaceful. In 2010, my cable was disconnected, and I never went back. That’s an essential part of staying sane(ish), but it also helps that I don’t live in the US… I protect my solitude and quiet fiercely, because that is what fills my creative cup.

You are so very wise. I'm re-learning how.

It's not original to me--I saw it somewhere online and I was like that is a great name for an open mic!
